For me I have to say yes. My 401k is up almost 12% on the year. My heath ins. has gone up only slightly. I just got a 4% raise. Gas is down and so are taxes. And my rent hasn't gone up in over 4 years. things are looking pretty good.

The Dow is not a good indicator of the economy. Investors, fund managers, etc. are simply moving money back into the market and into large cap stocks.
The economy is OK. Not great but not all that bad either.
GDP growth is ok, inflation is not that bad, interest rates are still pretty low. Wage growth is not all that great either.
But the economy is slowing down-- and in fact, the Fed is likely to leave rates alone the next time they meet.
But, remember that the dow is now just above the high it was in 2001 (or there abouts). We have been in fairly crappy environment for much of Bush's tenure-- hence the monetary policy and tax custs to spur the economy.

It's as good as it's going to get. Anybody who says otherwise was not alive through the Carter administration.
