He has America rooting for a paradigm shift--He is kind of a Theodore Roosevelt type persona...some old school republican ideals, such as teaching our children how to be useful in our society, ending apathy as you will (I guess you would call some of his ideas "paleo-con") while at the same time embracing modern liberal ideas such as the call for clean, cheap, renewable energy sources, and education reform. A very mobilizing persona, he is genuine and always keeps in mind that he is one of the people(he refuses to accept rides on corporate jets, including oprah's, because he says it distances himself from his constituents) Just a warm and refreshing change for D.C. politics--I can't wait till we have a majority democrat congress to see what he can REALLY do. He has only drafted a couple of pieces of legislation that have passed one being the pension protection act. This being due mostly to our majority Repub congress. He has about 15 years of experience if you look at his 7 years state senate experience, and constitutional law professorship previous to that. I think he has enough "know-how" without the sleazy "career politician" grease.
*some of this I posted on an earlier question that was similar.

All I really know about him is that I want to know more about him.

Racism will be his biggest problem. Have you noticed that people are saying he is too "inexperienced" in Washington. Want to bet that after he's been around a while the same people will say that he is just another Washington "insider"?

To me, not being completely submerged in the cesspit of Washington footsie politics is a plus for the man.

Barak Obama, how can I say this. I think hes well intended, but he doesnt seem to have thought this through. He really needs to think about the party to which his loyalty goes and what a statement like that could do. More than that, he doesnt have the nomination or the support of his party in that, he doesnt have the financial backing, and he really doesn't have the solutions he would need, which seems to be typical of the Democratic party. Think about this for a second, how do you think middle america would like "President Obama", just think about it. In short, I have a feeling that Mr. Obama's paperwork for candidacy will be lost in translation.

I like him, but Yeah, I need to get more information. I like him so far of what I have seen. He is alot better than some of these other idiots I see as politicians. I my opinion, about half the job of being President, is being likable. Look at Clinton, (most) the world loved him regardless of what he did. But then you have Bush, he just pisses everyone off. You need someone likeable to get the job done. Seems shallow but thats the way the world works. And Barrak is likable.

An appealing figure, but *far* too inexperienced to be thinking of running for president in 2008.

I think he is highly intelligent and may be running for president in our next election. He would be a breath of fresh air in Washington. We need a change in the way things are done in our government!

Seems like a good candidate. I'm from IL and have been familiar with him prior to his "famous" speech. However, he really hasn't done much yet which he concedes himself. Give him time and don't be surprised if he doesn't run in '08

He's sharp and a real contender. Needs more experience, though. Give him some time and he will be our political future, we can ONLY hope!
