How does an owner of a not for profit organization make money to pay his/her own bills?

you charge for your services. non profit is for taxes.non profit open you up for charitable contributions and other free stuff. it does not mean you can not make money

You get paid a salary, just as if it was a for-profit organization.

when a owner works for this organization, they can be paid for their work....
