the computer alway needs battery juice so there will be a little draw at all times. witch of the battery terminals did you install last ? it should be the neg last.

Ck with volt meter at the battery. should be close to 14 volts if its charging, if not ck plug in connector at alt for voltage with key on.If this wire is dead it won`t charge. hope this helps.

if you have a gage try changing that but you might have got a defective alternator
