parkman...i agree, however to do that i'd have to have a 'Christmas' room and then when the 26th of november rolls around i'd have to haul the stuff out of that room and into the living room.

We usually do it the first or second week of December. I've seen people put up earlier though!

And about enjoying the season.. if retailers like Wal-Mart and Target [to name just a few] can put up Christmas at the start of OCTOBER... before Halloween is even over, you can put up your decorations whenever you please.

I'm not much of a Christmas person after my father died day after Christmas in 1996. My mom loves the holiday and she starts sometime around Thanksgiving. Notice I said she. I'm not into that stuff like I used to be. There is neighbor who never takes there stuff down. We named there house the Christmas house on the block. LOL

The day after Thanksgiving is when we start. I am a Christmas nut, so it usually takes about a month to finish. As for the Christmas lights on the house, our neighbors probably hate us for this, but since my husband does not like hanging lights in freezing temperatures, he hangs them on the warmest day he finds in November. We just don't turn them on until after Thanksgiving.

I usually put stuff up the day after but this year I do Thanksgiving day, I will bring everything up the day before, I have the night before so after Thanksgiving dinner I will put stuff up. I bought alot of stuff last year and I want to see it up soon. It has been in hiding long enough. :)

Personal preference. Some people put up stuff even before Thanksgiving. My family usually does it middle of December, depending on how busy we are. Also, mom is a teacher and brother is still in school so we usually end up waiting until the semester is over before we put stuff up so we can keep an eye on our cats- they like the tree.

I start putting Christmas decorations out the first Sunday in Advent, I start by placing my Advent Wreath which I made out and placing one candle in it. Every Sunday I place one more candle in the wreath. I decorate a little bit each day and by the time the last Sunday in Advent arrives I have the inside of the house done. The outside I usually wait till there is a good snow fall and then I go outside and decorate while the snow is falling and blowing all around me. I know it is easier to decorate the outside when the weather is still nice and I have tried that but I really enjoy decorating in the snow.

We usually put them up on December 1st but this year we're going to start the day after Thanksgiving. Some people start on November 1st. I think that's okay if you like it up for that long.

I agree with you - I really don't want to see decorations until after Thanksgiving! Many people I know now are having their tree and decorations up for Thanksgiving company!

The earliest that I've done it is after Thanksgiving, and the latest is sometime during the week before Christmas.
