Do they know how long it will take for ship to sink?

As mentioned before, the actual band on the Titanic did play as the ship sank. All the members were lost and were regarded as heroes. Some survivors remembered them playing the hymn "Nearer My God to Thee" while others thought the last tune was the popular (at the time) "Autumn". Classic folklore supports the former song. In any case, the sinking itself was an interesting study of heroism and cowardice. While the members of the band and many other passengers and crew members (including the captain) chose to remain on board, others (including managing director of the White Star Line, Bruce Ismay) chose to save themselves. In Ismay's case, he was forever branded as coward. Actually, most of those who died did not drown; rather they succumbed to hypothermia in the freezing water. What was not depicted in the movie was the grim task of removing the many hundreds of bodies in life jackets still floating in the water over the next few days.

I'm just here for BQ2. Whether *anyone* can really objectively evaluate music is a different question, but is there really a point to doing so? music is supposed to be an emotional expression. It is within its very nature to be subjective. Without that subjectivity, all you can do is count the beats, determine the chord progressions, etc. But that's not why the music was created. It was created to express emotion. This is why I don't buy into the idea of any "greatest album ever" or "greatest band ever", aside from what my current favorite is. Whatever effects me personally he most is the best. Sure it's different for everyone, but that is the nature of art.

Because the director never heard of editing. This movie was one big ego trip for James Cameron, and a slap in the face of all the people who really died in a horrible tragedy.

Everything in this movie was WAY too long. Like why were Jack and Billy Zane running around the ship for hours instead of getting in a life boat??? Maybe because we already knew the ending and there was no point in building up suspense???

I still can't figure out how Rose managed to find Jack chained up in the hold of a 5 bazillion square foot ship with water flooding every level. Oh, wait, that's right, the LIGHTS were still on. And of course they had to crack jokes. It is so funny to drown, ha ha ha.

PLEASE, hurry up and drown and get the movie over with!!!!

They played while the ship sank to try and keep the people calm and to show courage. The real musicians on the real Titanic did the same thing, playing as the ship went down. I think they were very brave.

They said in the movie they were trying to keep the people calm. I think they had a clue how long it would take, just not down to the minute.

Three hours and three minutes and the band still played because they actually did that in real life on the titanic.

they played to keep people calm and they most likely accepted their fate when they saw the water go on the deck of the ship

I think they said in the movie that it was there to try and keep the crew and passengers calm-to bring some sense of tranquility.

They played so they could calm everybody down, and live the last hour on board.
