My wireless internet keeps dropping on my computer, for about 10 min periods. Used to just do it at 12:45-2am but now its doing it through out the day and more often.

What im usally doing is playing WoW (world of warcraft), CS, or Half-life2 and it just disconnects me. It says i have internet connection but I can not get back on ventrilo or even bring up a firefox page :(.... I try to restart my computer or refresh the internet connection it doesnt do a thing. I have to just sit out and wait for it to come back on but it seems to happen more often now :(, getting rather annoying

I have looked at similar questions, I have tried somethings but i dont know if they worked or not.

I would really apperciate some help, Thank you

Is your wireless network a secure network? If not, this is the cause of your problem. You need to enable WEP authentication on your router/firewall to prevent evil doers from hijacking your bandwidth. You merely need to log into your router via your browser by entering its ip address, you can enable the authentication and change your admin password under the advanced or security tab.

In the world of raido frequencies if one frequency interferes with another it will channal hop. Like for example I had a friend who had a wireless phone that would disconnect him each time it was answered. The frequency the phone had was to close to his wireless networks. So I think the same thing is happening to you. Somebody is using some kinda frequency to cause yours to lose its connection.

Another problem maybe your wireless isn't getting enough signal. Or the Cable/DSL has a low signal. For the wireless signal you can add antennas to it or put a Wireless AP in the middle to boost the signal. If it is the Cable/DSL signal in the lines then that is the ISP fault and they would have to come check the strength of the signal.

Also make sure your wireless is secure. Don't use WEP as mentioned before it is an old standard and has been broken. Instead use WPA.

This happens if there are a lot of wireless routers all on one 'channel'. You need to login to your router and under wireless settings change the channel (choosing from 1-12 usually) until a good connection is received. By default most routers are set to channel 1 so it's like having lots of remotes for one remote control car - the signals clash. If you can't do this yourself, get a specialist and ask them to this for you, it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

Go to start-->settings-->network connections. Right click on your wireless connection. find the tab for power management., make sure its not set to have the computer turn it off to conserve power.
Make sure you're not running into any thing which might interfere with the signal. If DSL connection, make sure all your filters are in place. Check the faqs and forums on dslreports.com , networking and wireless networking for tips and techniques.

. An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

If you have draft-n routers they usually stink so I wouldn't trust them. Then if you do not have cisco/linksys routers they are usualy now so good so you may lose a connection. Try going to my network places >>view network connections>>conection name>>right click>>repair and bridge connections (two seperate ones)
