I have this habit of popping bumps (pimples, blackhead etc.) on my husbands back, and for a long time I thought I was the only one. It wasn't until I started seeing this same behavior written into movies and tv shows that I realized its more than a personal thing. I also noticed that its always the wives who engage in the "poppin". My husband has no interest in poppin whatsoever. It's come to the point where I don't even have to look, I just feel my way around with my fingertips, then I pounce.... Where does this urge to pop come from, can anyone out there relate?

it comes from the same urge to pop plastic blisters (packing blisters)
it's a mental nitpicking thing...nothing wrong with that though....

Okay, I think that this is a weird habit, but I do it myself. My husband thinks that it is really gross, but I think that it is gross to not pop them. After they are popped they go away. I titally understand what you mean by having this urge. My mom used to do this to my dad as well. I kind of liken it to a form of trichotolomania where a person feels the need to get rid of hairs. I don't think that it is something that you can really help yourself from doing.

I don't know where the urge comes from but every female in my family has the same urge. You're not alone. It's not really weird at all.

you will one day pop something that does not need popping.and your husband would come down with a serious health problem.this is not a habit that must be encouraged.
