That link should help you quite a bit on your paper.
I'm the oldest of six, so I know a little about living in a large family myself, and I'd say that pretty much covers it. Personally, I hated being the oldest because I became "mini mom" and ended up taking care of all my younger siblings. LOL--I got to where I dreaded it when my mom told me she was pregnant.

Good luck on your paper!

It would help if you specified a little better.

I came from a family with 13 children.

Benefits: I had to compete with much older children, I read their books, I learned how to get along with others. When I got to school I was already reading books from high school.

Draw-backs: There often wasn't enough food. There was NO privacy anywhere. Also my older siblings spent more time raising me than my parents did.

However, holidays were really close, in spite of everything we all still get along well. I hope that helps.

It's not a theory, it's my life. I raised 8 boys, 3 of my own and 5 nephews, sister passed away.I loved every crazy minute and when we all get together now, all 36 of us, wives and grand-babies, it is even crazier. Life is good! I don't know how people can stop at having just one, they don't know what they are missing until they have two and nobody did it.
