In my neck of the woods, lots of contractors (roofers, painters, framers, etc.) hire illegals and legal Mexicans. They get paid the same as the natives, but they don't call in sick, they show up on time, and they bust ***. I know it might be tough to swallow, but it's true (at least around here).

So it's not always a matter of saving a few bucks on the payroll. I've talked to several white, American employers who make a policy of hiring Mexicans because they tend to be a lot more productive than many coddled Americans.

As for the benefits to the employer for paying in cash, they can and do pay US citizens in cash all of the time. I know, I've worked hundreds of cash jobs before finding my present carrier.

I can tell you this for a fact, as I work for a contractor in Texas. These people have very good fake ID. Often times that of their children or someone incarcerated. They do have to have workers com and safety equipment. That is a law regardless of how or who you're paying. OSHA does not come out and say, "oh you're paying them cash nevermind." The major problem is identity theft, not cash under the table. Additionally, construction jobs have seperate minimum wages for different positions (way above $5.50) and they do come out and interview monthly.

I have to say that I do feel bad for the immigrantswho have a hard time finding work, but there is a right and wrong way to come into our country and if you haven't done it the right way, then you deserve to have it hard.

The problem is that there are too many GREEDY Americans who can't do things the right way either, so it takes away jobs from Americans and even immigrants who have come into the states the right way.

People in general just need to start doing things the RIGHT way, but I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up.

I think this is a great reason to reform the IRS.

I went to all contract labor myself. It's bad enough to have to pay the taxes for employing someone, but then the IRS acts like the gestapo. I was fined $100 for filing and paying 7 days late (for one hourly employee).

Maybe some gentler treatment of employers by our IRS would result in the creation of more jobs...

Greed

Most Redpublican employers have a picture of Juan Corona on the wall by the desk. Famous for killing employees on payday Juan is the poster child of low wage advocates.
