The oldest known gold objects in the world have been found in a prehistoric cemetery in Varna, on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. They are dated to 4500 BC approximately.

The objects are of marvellous quality, so that there must have been earlier cruder ones that have not yet been discovered.

actually we not know it dated back before christ. also is a common ceremony thing during ancient egypt and china. and the element AU is gold.

people have found flattened lumps of gold with petroglyphs (pictures)carved in them from the prehistoric era.Gold was being mined 5,000 years ago.
