So you know that an egg is fairly fragile, obviously. The point of the experiment is to somehow provide a force that goes slightly against the force of gravity, so the egg doesn't fall as hard and won't go splat.

You can decrease the effect that gravity has on the egg in multiple ways.
One way is to use a napkin or piece of paper as a parachute, and use string to connect it to the egg.
Another way is to cushion the egg so much that it won't break even on impact.

The best way to combine both of these methods. Create a cushioned container for the egg and attach a piece of paper with string the the container. A container could possibly be a cup, with padding.
