49=7
100=10
7/10
when doing negative you start dealing with imaginary numbers

Properties of radicals (negatives and fractions):

-/(x) denotates the "square root of x"

-/(-1) = i
-/(a/b) = -/(a) / -/(b)
-/(-a) = -/(-1) * -/(a) = i * -/(a)

A] -/(49/100) = -/(49) / -/(100) = 7/10 = .7

B] -/(-400) = -/(-1) * -/(400) = i * 20 = 20i

You can use those on all problems with negatives, fractions, or most combinations of the two!

The square root of 49 divided by 100 is
7 divided by 10.
You just take the square root of the top number and then divide by the square root of the bottom number.
For negative numbers, you can just go ahead and take the square root of the positive number.
The square root of 400 is 20.
Since the 400 is negative, you need to put an i behind the 20.
The square root of -400 is 20i

sqrt 49/100 = 7/10. Just take root of numerator & denominator.

sqrt of a negative number is imaginary, denoted by a little i

sqrt -400 = 20i

for a negative no. we have to introduce the concept of imaginary no. "i" where i^2= -1,so sqr root of -400=20i.for fractions find the individual roots, for eg: sqr root 49/100=7/10=0.7

49/100 = root of top/ root of bottom = 7/10

root of negative requires the use of irrational number i
i^2 = -1 so root of -400 = i20

The square root of a negative number is "i" times the square root of the corresponding postive number. For example: sqrt(-10) = i * sqrt(10) sqrt(-16) = +/-4i Another way to look at your equation is to say that 3y² + 8 = 0 has no solution in the set of real numbers. It only has solutions using complex, or imaginary, numbers.
