My sons dr told me it was ok to dip his pacifier in stage 1 foods, that was at 2 months, he is now almost 3 months old and lately I have been giving a very very small amount of rice cereal and stage 1 applesauce in a cereal feeder at night before bedtime, this helps him to sleep through the night, if he was going to have a reaction to the cereal or any new stage 1 food he was trying on his pacifier it would present itself within the first week or so right? I know that you are supposed to wait a week between new foods and I do I was just wondering if I was right in guessing that if it was going to bother him it would present itself shortly after the first feeding of a new food.

A week is a great time length, my doctor said 3 days is great so if your baby is not having any reactions after a week he should definately be fine. If you do notice something that you think may be a reaction just check with your doctor. I sat for a little girl once who would break out a little on her hands after babyfood with strawberries in it so we avoided them for a while but she is totally able to eat the fruit now. You seem like you know what you're doing...I think that the dipping the pacifier in the food is an interesting idea, I've never heard that before!

You can skip the rice cereal and move right to fruits and veggies, or try making your own rice cereal by pureeing cooked brown rice in a blender. Perhaps your baby is allergic to not to the rice, but some other chemical in the processed cereal. If your baby is under 6 months, she may just not be ready for solids, despite all the formula she is eating. Edit: Saw your add...the doctor said it was okay to experiment. Sounds like your daughter is telling you she isn't quite ready yet. Try again in a month or two and I'm willing to bet she won't have the same reaction once her digestive system begins to mature.

If there is an allergic reaction it will show up within a day or so...that;s why you introduce ONE food at a time...to watch for ANY kind of reaction......that way you can pinpoint to what it is that is causing his reaction.....and take it out and try it again in a few days or a week later....and if the same reaction comes up again then you may have a case of allergies........
he may grow out of it......and be ok having it when he's a year old or something.....

And why may I ask are you using a pacifier.......there is no need to pacify your child.......you're just creating a problem for yourself later....with a 2 or 3 or worse 5 year old walking around with a pacifier in his mouth.....and that just looks so wrong!
And if you have to DIP your pacifier in food for your baby to take it....obviously your baby doesn't want the pacifier so why force it on him?????

congrats on your little one and being a concerned mommy!!
food allergies should present themselves fairly quickly - within 24 hours - but you should always wait at least 3 days before switching foods. Just to be sure!!
Food allergies can come up at any moment. But the biggest prevention of them is saving highly allergic foods till later. Peanuts, eggs, peanut butter... you get the idea.
Good luck and I know its tough but relax and enjoy your little one!

Allergies sometimes develop slowly. More often though, you would see something like a rash, loose bowel movements, vomiting. Wait at least a week before introducing new foods-that gives time for the allergy to appear.

When you introduce some food allergic reaction might occur. But don't you worry about it, when you re-introduce that food again iyour baby might be able to tolerate it and no allergic reaction may develop.

But i encourage you to breast feed your baby..Breastfeeding helps reduce the risk of developing food allergy and ideally food should introduce only in the fifth and sixth month of a baby's life.

Yeah, at least a week. But usually they show up sooner than that. Just a week to be safe.
