What is the approx size of a normal length movie in kb's and how long do you think it would take to download at speed 1.1mbs?

Consider a normal length movie is 90 mins long...
Video quality at about 800x600 resolutions using Divx format....
The movie will be about 700-800 megabytes (700,000-800,000 kilobytes).........
Giving your speed at 1.1mbs, it will take about 11 mins to 13.2 mins to complete the download....

Depends on which format the movie is in. DIVX will be one of the smallest file sizes and most often whoever ripped the video will try to save the file with a size that will fit on a 700 Mb (716,800 Kb Appx) CD. It will most likely take about 45 min to an hour to download a 700 mb file... network traffic on the site you are downloading from as well as other factors prevent your actual download speeds from maintaining the 1 mb speed you should be getting. It could take a few hours to download a 4.7 Gb DVD file.

a full length DVD quality movie is about 4 G(BYTEs). about 8 hoursf.
a one hour HD movie is about 50 Gigs. a couple days.
many movies today are compressed and made in a smaller resolution to enable quicker downloads.
an MPEG4 HD stream is about 10 megs/second (bits) so you could calculate based on 10 times the running time of the movie.
It might be faster to download via US mail and NETFLIX. Some homes in the northeast are getting 50 Meg internet connections, and this is why.

Most movies are around 700MB-1.3GB depending on the quality and bitrate of the video encoding. If you are downloading at 1.1mbps (that's incredibly fast!) it will take only about 20 minutes.
