this phenomena is condensation. You liquid have to give heat to the environment to drop is temperature and condensate. When the liquid give heat (energy) to the environement, it's an exothermic system. And when you have to provide heat to you liquid (solid pass liquid or liquid pass gas), it's called endothermic.

It's called "condensation" and it releases energy, so it is exothermic. Think of water. You have to add energy to turn it into a gas (boil it), so if the opposite occurs (condensation), it must release energy.
