Go to the condiment section in your supermarket. Saltpeter is used for smoking and preserving meat.

are you joking? what a pathectic lie, why would you need such an oxidizer? Im reporting you to the authorites. joking- any common meat seller would be happy to sell you some, or just buy stump remover it contains much more patasium nitrate. have fun blowing up stuff just dont denonate any more than 2 liters at a time other wise you would end up a $$ up in a grave, literailly

im pretty sure you mean salt peter also known as potassium nitrate or nitre...

and theres no way you want that for a science experiment... esp not for chem class anyway

Or buy in a fertilizer shop

But easiest would be the yellow pages- under chemical supplies
