How do they get it to feel better? Why? What does it do?

they do this to bring down the swelling of thowing 100+ pitches. Using the ice wrap for around 20 minutes then taking it off to have the shoulder heal naturally makes a big difference in the recovery. It helps them feel better because it numbs the pain a little as it does this.

Pitching overhand is a non-natural violent motion for an arm & shoulder. Putting ice on the arm (shoulder & elbow) helps reduce swelling after pitching. The old thought was put heat on the arm, but that actually draws blood towards the injured areas and increases the swelling.

For a couple of reasons. One, they can throw upwards of 100 pitches or more. Your sholder is going to be tired. Secondly, it is going to help the pitcher not get injured as much.

to relax your muscles after pitching, and also so you don't throw your arm out next time you pitch

you have to ice if so it dosent hurt
