Lantana, often thought of as a clusterful flower in the U.S.A., but a noxious weed that encroaches on everything in Ireland. Much like Kudzu in the U.S.

There are lots. Wild chickory has bare stems and the nicest purple/blue flowers you can imagine, but is considered a noxious weed and usually grows along roadsides and unmaintained telephone poles. Even the dandelion is beautiful and is one of the first things you see in spring. Wild violets are beautiful. If you really look, almost anything is beautiful in the context of just being looked at for itself as opposed to seeing it as a pest in one's lawn or garden. If you go for a walk in the woods in the spring, you'll see things in perspective if you train your eye to see all components of the area instead of only the landscape as a whole. It is said that a weed is a plant that is growing out of place. So if you have a lawn and a beautiful plant starts growing there, does that make it a weed? By the same token, if you are growing a wildflower garden, and grass grows there, is the grass a weed?

Any plant that is not where it is suppose to be is a weed. So the most glorious Rose bush in the center of a field of corn is a weed.
but FOR WEEDS i LIKE THE WATER HYACINTH. It will choke out every other water plant around it, native species and all. That is bad. But , it is also one of the worlds best water purifying plants...so...what is wrong and what is right??????

Creeping Charlie. While nice looking, blue and flowery, it wreaks havoc on a lawn.
