1. Not listening
2. Assuming you know what the other person is thinking/going to say in the conversation
3. Triangulating (bringing in a 3rd person into the discussion when it is just supposed to be between two people). For example- "Well my mom says you are self-centered"

I have a fourth or you could put it with #3- Not owning your own feelings and instead hiding behind/using others thoughts/feelings about a situation.

3.receiver-deaf
those are samples of barriers in good communication...but a breakdown will occur if any of those three is not effective...
