It's extremely important to keep your saddle on a stand, so it doesn't get bent out of shape, and to keep it away from mice and any other vermin. Also, to take care of my saddles, I usually clean them nicely before every show (about every month) and to clean them, I first wipe them down with a damp cloth, and then I squirt some leather conditioner on a sponge and lather it into the saddle. I don't like to use saddle soap, because of all of the bad experiences I've seen my friends have with it. I've come to realize that saddle soap dries out your leather more than anything.
Hope that helps!

Use saddle soap to soften and shine it but If you don't want to pay for saddle soap you can use murphy oil soap and add alot of water it's the same as saddle soap with out the cost.
You also should keep your saddle someplace safe and I would put a towel of cloth over it so it does not get dust or anything on it.
Hope that helped.

Unfortunately this just comes with using leather saddles. However if you go to a local saddlery or leather shop, or the place you got the saddle, they will tell you what the best way to look after your saddle is. They'll probably recommend leather cleaners

I agree with the other who said keep it on a stand, also to keep it covered in a clean, dry environment.

I disagree with the other poster who said to clean wiht LOTS of water. NEVER expose fine leather to lots of water. You wring your sponge out 'itll it's nearly dry before you apply glycerine, murphys or any type of leather care & cleaning product. I like Feibing's saddle soap and Leather Therapy, as well as Horseman's One Step.

I'd only oil it once it starts to appear dry, or if it DOES get wet, say in a rainstorm that snuck up on you on a trailride.

i put a cotton cover over mine to keep the dust away from it. i clean it about once a month. i take saddle soap on a dampish sponge (don't get the sponge very wet) and rub it into the leather. don't use a very harsh sponge because it's not good for the leather. after i clean it i rub neats foot oil into it with my fingers. it doesn't work very well if you use a sponge for that part.

I also clean mine allthe time but I also keep it in a bag. This keeps it from collecting dust.

-Always have it on a stand, because you don't want it's tree to break
-oil it regularly, you want it looking nice, don't you?
-and keep it away from mice, or any kind of vermin
