"Nothing is idiot proof" ... this is my own phase, came from a personal experience when I was in college.
My boyfriend at the time worked in the PA booth of the college church. The pastor there was well known and had written several books. One of my boyfriend's duties was to record all his sermons. Tape recorders were used in those days. I was in the PA booth with him and helping him. He asked me to watch the cassette tape and to quickly remove it, turn it around and re-insert it when it got to the end. I asked, “which way does the tape go in?". He was busy and just said, "it can go in only one way ... it is idiot proof". Well... i got it in ... the wrong way.
This, also, gave birth to another fave phrase of mine: "Yes, you can get a square peg into a round hole"

I have several favorite phrases. Some of them are:
