I don't know, it kind of bothers me. Pretty soon there will hardly be any vowels in words because English will be mutated by this very weird trend. In fact, it's been proven that you don't have to see all of a word in a sentence to know what word it is; that you can figure it out just by familiarity, context, and syntax. Language evolves just like everything else, so who knows what we'll encounter 20-30 years from now. Probably more than you cared for...

Because we suck at typing and it is much easier and less work to answer in that form (really we just need to get more points and need to type faster... ha ha ha ha ) I am a slow typist but I usually answer in long form to make sure that I am well understood... usually it means that my answers are close to the bottom and my emails can take a while to get away but at least I am happy that people can understand what I am on about...

because they can't actually spell anything!!!

i work with a girl who wrote a letter to our area manager and every 2nd word was in text speak.

my mum on the other hand totally can't get the hang of text speak and instead of leaving out the vowels she only uses vowels.... doesn't make any sense!!!!

my 6th month old daughter button bashes while im trying to write and it still makes more sense than text speak. although i have to admit i do say 'cuz' on here.
