I would try to find something Like a poem or a meaningful picture that you can put into a frame. For my mother in law I found a poem specifically for a mother in law at Hallmark. It was sewwt and special and I got lots of daughter in law points for the gift. As for her sister? Maybe some kind of trinket? A little keepsake box or some nice candle holders.

Depending on how much you are wanting to spend, but I am a Mary Kay sales director and the Satin Hands set is a great gift for anyone especially if you don't know their preference of perfumes or lotions. We also have a pedicure set and several other "spa sets" available. I also offer free gift wrapping and free shipping.

Get them each a lump of coal.
Tell them that if they squeeze it hard enough, it will become a diamond. Tell them you have given them something very valuable if they put forth the right amount of effort.
