Your better off going to a t-mobile store and asked them about the warranty. They can give you a better answer to your question.

The warranty doesnt cover lost objects. Warranty covers only damaged or malfunctioned cell phones over a period of time (can be one year to two years)
But, If you have insurance, then they will probably give you a new one but you'll have to pay a minimum deposit. Usually from $20-$50.

They will usually give you the same exact phone and it isn't new, it's refurbished. Could be different now, but that was my experience.

If it was activated you had better call customer service and have them turn it off. Whoever finds it could be making all kinds of calls on it and finding your stored numbers if you have any, etc.
