Stirrup pants so they were even tighter. and big sweaters to cover your rear over your tight jeans. Or large blouses, unbuttoned about mid-chest, and singed in tightly at the waist with big, chunky colored belt so bottom of shirt would flare out like a dumb little skirt. Dumb little short booties.
Bangs divided, so top half was curled up from forehead, bottom half curved into forehead. Big plastic earrings with geometric designs. Don't forget the crispy hair.
A good movie to check out (and it's also just a good movie) is Sixteen Candles for all your early 80's retro wear. Most of the movie takes place at a school dance and a party so lots of kids and styles are shown.
Sheena Easton also exemplified the look. http://www.sheenaeaston.com/photos/sheena029.jpg

Mini skirts with leggings, pegleg jeans, big blousy shirts that you didn't tuck in but wore a belt with. The belt had to be a funky shape, and usually dipped into a "V" in the front. Parachute pants with lots of zippers that didn't necessarily have useable pockets behind them. Bangle bracelets like someone else mentioned. Scarves tied in big, teased up hair. Big earrings.

Big hair, faded tight jeans (no boot cut). Bright colors (neon pink etc.) Tights with legwarmers like of you were going to an aerobics class. High top LA Gears. basically like big dorks, yeah I'm from the 80's and I hate seeing old pictures. Are you trying to get a costume together for halloween?

Depended on what group you hung out in high school with.
Preppys: wore jeans, polo shirts (with collar up), raybans, hairbands....scrushy white anklets and white tennis shoes.
New Wave/Alternative: Neon shirts, muscle shirts (no sleeves), concert t-shirts, PINK...everything...makeup...big hair, dangly earrings. Fingerless gloves, tons of banglettes.
Populars - cut sweatshirts ala Flashdance, leg warmers, tennis shoes, lace camisoles....lace headscarfs.
Rent: 16 Candles, Weird Science, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Flashdance, Footloose to get ideas.

Uncomfortably!! LOL - look at all us old 80's teens answering! You get the idea from earlier posts, big earrings, jeans so tight you had to lay on the bed to do them up "Flashdance"tops, big hair. It was fun - except the jean thing, ugh!

Omigod. Ra ra skirts. Legwarmers. String vests over tshirts. Cropped jackets. Pixie boots. Bright colours. Puffball skirts. FRANKIE SAYS RELAX tshirts. But most cringeworthy of all was the BIG hair and the lurid eyeshadow.

Don't forget about parachute pants. A chick with a great *** in parachute pants was just priceless. Back in those days there were no thongs either. It was all grannypants.
