x^2=2x get all of the terms on one side....
x^2-2x=0 now factor out an x......
x(x-2)=0 This statement will be true when either x=0 or when x=2.

Think about it a minute.

The square of X is exactly the same as X times X, right?

so...

X times X = 2 times X


What must X be?
