The Coachman's Daughter won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 1961. If you don't mind a sometimes bloody war movie, Taegukgi was gripping and a huge hit in Korea. Shibaji is another historical movie, about a surrogate mother to a wealthy family. But avoid Oldboy at all costs - it's sick.

I'm not sure of the name, but there's something called "Gong" in which an ordinary high school student suddenly finds out that she'll be married to the prince of the country because of an agreement between their parents. Pretty fun with typically beautiful Korean actors.
