Yes a Republican Congressman did a bad thing, and he resigned because of it. That was the right thing to do.
Democrats, do you recall when GERRY STUDDS had physical, NOT VIRTUAL, sex with a 17 year old male intern? He did not resign, but kept his job!

you're right, democrat or republican really doesn't matter where personal morals and conduct are concerned. it's really too bad that politicians, as well as many people, think in terms of us against them at all cost while the average citizen pays the price and carries the burden for their idiocy.

Yeah, I'm awake. The Republicans have had a bad case of Wimpiness for many years. They didn't get mad and censure Studds, or force him out of office. On the other hand, the Democrats (and the media) are having fun with Foley's Follies.

The double standard of Republicans and Democrats is crazy in my opinion anyhow. President Clinton was IMPEACHED! and did not step down even though any other US President who had gotten a vote of no confidence had.
Having said that I am in NO way an extreme pro-Republican. I feel president Bush jumped off into a war that was founded on lies, and both sides of the coin (Republican / Democrat) are just being childish. Elections in the country bring out the most goofy name calling in the civilized world.
As stated in the question, both groups are in no way blameless in the way they lead the US, or represent the US to the rest of the world. Our elected leaders need to grow up and act like adults where we can look our grandchildren in the eyes and say that we the people believe in our leaders and their ability to discern right from wrong.
To do that everyone needs to research and VOTE for all our leaders in the coming years.
P.S. Even though I do not believe in the wars we are in, I believe in the men and women who fight in them.
