..you surely ARE joking. Aren't you?
Compared to The Beatles, The Stones, U2, The Who, The Kinks, Queen, Small Faces, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Free, Deep Purple, Mott the Hoople, Nazareth, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Simply Red, Wet Wet Wet, Franz Ferdinand, Deacon Blue, Keane, Kaiser Chiefs, and hundreds of other Brit (or Irish Bands in the case of 3/4 of U2)..they don't come ANYWHERE near.
Sorry 0/10 for that 1..

The problem with asking this about any pop band is that every pop band has to measure it's achievment against the Beatles. That's tough.

Maybe if you'd said "Is Duran Duran one of the best 80s bands?", I could get behind that without grave reservation. Then again, I was listening to The Flesheaters, XTC, Squeeze, Split Enz, Oingo Boingo, EC and the Attractions, Cocteau Twins, Waterboys, Talking Heads, Slow Children, OMD, Nina Hagen, et al during the 80s. Not the top of my agenda at that time, either...

At one time in the 80s they were thought to be the next Beatles. Then they fell off the map.... Oh well. We'll always have the memory of Hungry Like the Wolf

I have always liked them but I don't know whether they would be classified at the top. There music is very engaging and the lyrics are fun but they never got into the serious music like Pink Floyd that the critics rave about.
