I don't take Singulair, but my daughter recently started it. Lately she has been having mood swings, tantrums, is easily irritated and lashes out, has trouble falling asleep, is saying negative things about herself. I did an on-line search and I found out that Singulair has some scary and like you said "weird" side effects, in adults and children. It's really scary and disturbing to me. I gave her a dose tonight and as I was giving it to her my husband asked if that might be what is causing the problems. I so wish I could have turned back time and not given her that dose! I'm not sure how long it takes to get out of her system. Here is a link where you can read hundreds of people's experiences with Singulair.

Anytime I have a question like that I call my pharmacy and am told what side effects are normal and which are not. I am currently taking Singulair but not having the problem you are. Most of the time it's due to hormones.
