I never really played online, I prefer to play in real life tournament games, but I dont think the government should be telling people what they can and cant spend their money on.

I agree if your unable to play it then it should be banned in all forms not just on the Internet. Although If you are or your involved with someone with a gambling problem it does bring it into the home or office and a lot harder to resist the temptation.

I think it's ridiculous. I love to play poker and I keep my betting stakes to what I can afford to lose, as do the vast majority of players. Yes, there are people with gambling addictions, no doubt. There are people with addictions to just about everything. If we all have to stop doing something because somebody misuses it, pretty soon, we'll all just be sitting in our houses twiddling our thumbs.

Absolutely stupid. It was already illegal in the US. But gambling on foreign sites couldn't be controlled until they decided to limit banks (and others) from allowing you to bank-roll your account with US funds. People will find a way out of it.

Once again, somebody in Washington is trying to impose THEIR morals on everybody else. If you lose your house playing poker, that's your problem not the governements.

The right solution would be to open it up in the US, regulate it and tax it. It stuipd how some gambling is ok-- lotteries, casinos, dog/horse races-- but some is not.

There's a very detailed analysis of the situation here. I think it's a terrible state of affairs, but patently all the Republicans are trying to do is eventually legalise and tax the industry...

They just did it. This way everyone has to go to casinos. I know the two big Indian casinos near my home pay a quarter of a billion a year to the state. (And that is only a piece of the slot revenue)
Plus, gaming has a huge lobby in d.c.

Usually I would agree but I think this is a good idea. it's too easy and convenient for people to get addicted to playing online and wasting all their money.

I think it's already illegal. I'd rather they ban payday loans.
