Ouch. I left Michigan in 1980 when the shops were closing. I can't believe the lights are still on in the first place, but maybe they're on generator power & there's still hope.

why?
if they are the last person to leave...who will car if a light or two is left on..
if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to see it fall, does it still make a noise?
same thing..if no one knows the lights are left on..who will know...only the last person who may or may not have turned the lights off..
so leave them on....for some lonesome traveler..some day may pass that way...
