The doctor says that is what is going on with me and I know he says the time lines for recovery vary. I am basically looking for stories from recovering patients and basically how long you had the condition.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

i have handled bell's palsy cases....if you got it just recently then there might be a good prognosis for your condition....we recommend facial exercises for that...just try to do the basic movements on your face like sucking, blowing, pouting lips and etc..you can consult a physical therapist for the facial exercises and do them in a regular basis...just consult your doctor also for possible complications

I've had Bells Palsy myself, and at the time, I was working for a Ship Repair Yard!! Yes, I'm female, and I was the first and only female part owner of an American Ship Repair Yard! I was the VP for Human Resources, and I thought that when I went to work with the Yard employees - all 11 unions worth of them - I'd get MORE THAN MY USUAL NUMBER OF STARES!!!

What I decided to do is to just keep my head up, and pretend that nothing was wrong. Even now the right side of my face is about 35% numb, so that I have right eye droop and only the left side of my smile "performs"!!!

Your doctor's information, to the best of my knowledge, is correct; recovery time from Bells Palsey differs greatly. Most folks with this condition last anyweere from weeks to longer than 6 months. Not many end up like me, where the condition is really a symptom of a greater disease like MS.

So, I give you lots of encouragement; in my humble opinion, your attitude is a key component in your getting over this condition. If you retain a positive attitude, and if you document any other symptoms that you may develop so that you can keep your doctor informed, you are doing what's best for you.

You can always email me by clicking on to my "name". AND, if you want to learn more about how to manage your symptoms - whatever they are - check out my website:

Finally, please make sure that you are under a doctor's care. If your symptoms progress, make sure that you are checked out for Multiple Sclerosis.

Good luck!!!!
