I mostly enjoyed the movie. I thought it was a great cast and an interesting story. I also liked how some of it was filmed. Although some things were out of know where and weren't explained very well. Can anyone please explain the ending? I think I get the general "jist" of it, yet I am still confused. It seems things were very out of order and miss matched. Was the hauntings real? or did Besty make it up because her father touched her? Yet everyone saw what happened. She was burned in a fire? ahh I'm confused... please help!

Thank you!

According to the movie, it was a poltergeist that manifested due to Besty's sexual abuse and her father's feelings of guilt.

Essentially, what happens is that her father raped her. The "flashbacks" at the end were the moments where this happened. The "ghost" was her, in a way, creating a kind of "psychic" force, to help protect her. That's why there was blood on the clothes, etc. The other girl was, I guess, a kind of psychic projection from herself. And at the end, when the "psychic projection" shows up, in today's time, it's saying the same thing is happening with the modern girl. The hauntings were suppossed to be real, essentially, but caused by Betsy's mind.

Though, in real life, this was one of the lesser agreed on theories on why the hauntings happend. If you go on a search engine, you can look up Bell Witch Hauntings and read about some of the other theories (some of which I think are more interesting than the one they picked for the movie).

I hope that helps!

some people are just into incest and so they molest family members. it's most usually someone you know who's abusing your child ahm yeah so it was the father in the old time was abusing his daughter and the father in the present was abusing his daughter too. some people just do things like that. there's not exactly a reason for it.
