I have taken 2 EPT (plus minus) tests both came back with a thin positive plus, then I took 2 of the (plus minus) dollar general tests they both came back a thin positive line, that was last week. Today I took 2 of the (plus minus) dollar generel tests both negative, the other tests I took where before I started taking the prenatal vitamins the doctor gave me, they have discolored my urine making it dark looking, I was wondeing if this could be making the results negative or could the other positives been evaporation lines, most of them came back positve before the 10 minute time limit but one of them it took an hour to come back positive, I would go to the doc, but they want a positive urine test before a blood test. Please help me I am so confused.

You can get a false negative result with a home pregnancy test, but not a false positive. The pregnancy hormone is always present when you are pregnant. The brand of test should not affect the outcome. However, if you have gotten two positives, then two negatives, wait a week and then take it again. If they come back negative, I would call your doctor and request a blood test to confirm the pregnancy. However, it is not uncommon that by the time you took the second set of tests, the pregnancy terminated.
It happened to me. On Tuesday I had a positive pregnancy test and by that Friday, I started getting cramps and took another test and it came back negative. I miscarried...which is a lot more common than most women think that early on in the pregnancy.
Good luck.

You've had more than one positive test, so tell that to the doctor with no explainations or questions about the tests and they should give you the test.
The test you read after an hour? That is far beyind the time limit. If you can't read the positive by the time the directions say to read it, don't trust it.
No medications are going to affect a home pregnancy test (except maybe maybe hormonal birth control, but I'm not sure about that). The vitamins surely are not affecting the test.
I don't know what else to tell you other than just call the doctor and tell them that you've had a couple of positive home pregnancy tests and you want a blood test to be absolutely sure.
Good luck.

ok. give it a week then take a test with your first morning urine. This will have the most hcg in it. Prenatals will not cause a different answer. It is just a vitamine. keep taking them. good luck.

I would tell the doc. that you had a positive sign and if you still don't have your period I would go into the office and check with your doctor. They will do a test there and everything will be cleared up.

I took that one when I found out I was pregnant and yes there is a faint line across before you pee on it. Then it will get darker with no positive line if it is negative. If it is positive then you will have the dark line across and then a horizontal line making it a positive. That very faint negative line doesn't affect the test.

I don't understand, why would you keep taking a test??? If your doctor gave you prenatal vitamins that means you're pregnant right??? Or are they old ones from a previous pregnancy????

If you have already seen your doctor and he/she confirmed the pregnancy then you are pregnant. Continue taking you pre-natal vitamins and you will be okay.

I would insist that my doctor do a blood test, in fact i did insist and they do it, because it is my money and my body, they have to do a blood test if you want one done. Stand your ground.
