I have been a temporary employee through the same agency at 2 different local governments in CA. After taking the tests (Word, Excel, Typing WPM) they interviewed me and placed me within 2 weeks. I stayed at the first one for 8 months (although was only supposed to be 6) and now I've been at the second place for 1.5 years (was supposed to be 6 months). I did it because I was getting my MA and needed the time to study and do projects without losing out on money for bills, etc. It is worth it if you find the right agency and they will work with you. The networking you will find will last much longer than the job. Good luck!

depends on why you haven't received the payment. If they changed their payments methods or dates without telling you in advance, then I would ask. If they just always mail it, and the postal service was late in getting the physical check to you, then that's just a bummer.

The bank can waive the fee, but they are usually worse than temp agencies.

I worked as a temp, and generally had a good time. But this one time I was "at the end of my assignment" at Gallo foods, and had to ride the bus home in my "accountant" garb (ugghhhh). But the worst part, as a going away present, they gave me this big salami, like a 2 1/2 footer and about as big around as my wrist. So there I was, riding the bus through the warehouse district in SF, just laid off, kind of, in a cheap, just-graduated-still-partying-tumms guzzling suit, and carrying this big-*** salami. And I was in no position to throw the fricking thing away because it was going to be part of lunch for the next weeks.

Twenty-three years later and I still can't eat a salami sandwich. Damn!

I would check with the temp agency as to whether they got your time information. I had that happen to me a couple of times where the manager I reported to didn't approve my hours in time to get into the pay cycle. Really ticked me off.

I don't know if you can get anyone to pay your overdraft fees, but it can't hurt to ask.

I would. If you have a set payday and you didn't get paid that day, I would tell your agency what happened and ask them to cover the overdraft fees.

You should, especially if you have a contract with them that you are supposed to get paied on a certain date and they dont pay you on time. If they dont you might have to take them to court (if you really want to take it that far).

Absolutely, it they pay late and they are responsible for any problems they cause you as a result of their error.

no you should have checked how much money you have before you authorized someone to take money out of your account.
