Hi there!

I can't seem to find where I can get a basic overview of what each candidate stands for on certain election issues and where they stand in the polls. All I want is something that can give me a straight answer . I don't want to read a whole bunch of long drawn out answers. For instance, On abortion: Bob Casey stands this way, Rick Santorum this way. Anyone know where I could find something like that? A legitimate source, please, not some random aol page or something. Thanks!

Oh btw, Make sure you 1. Vote this November and 2. KNOW WHAT THE CANDIDATE STANDS FOR, don't be a blind voter and vote for someone simply because you agee with them on ONE or TWO issues.

Already checked the websites, that's a no brainer. A kindergartner could have thought of that one. They don't have that kind of info on there (at least not most most of the candidates or all of the issues.), just very general BS, like I promise this, blah blah balh. I want to know exactly where they stand rather than the beating around the bush.

Start with the Voter's pamphlet. You can usually decipher where each candidate stands from their own statements. For environmental records see League of Conservation Voters website. On every issue there is an advocacy group that makes recommendations and endorsements. For the truth behind all those claims in political ads see factcheck.org. I know this isn't much help but it's a start.

I'd check for a telephone listing or website for your local "League of Women Voters." The League generally has up to date information about all of your candidates and issues.

The candidates should have official websites. If the website doesn't let you know. Try the local newspaper or contact the candidates office directly. Good luck.

Your county should publish a "voters information guide" in which lengthy statements by the candidates are published and they usually list their position on issues.

SmartVoter.org is a good one: http://www.smartvoter.org/ you just search by zipcode and then you can get detailed information about (almost) every candidate on your ballot, taked directly from the candidates responses to the questionaire from the LWV. Hope this helps!
