I have a son and a daughter that I'm non-residential custodian. I want to move in with my fiance and we only have one bedroom for the 2 kids, until we buy a house in 4-5 months. With the being opposite sex, does that matter or do we have to have 2 separate bedrooms? Does it matter one way or another since I'm non-residential?

My daughter is 11 and my son is 6. They shared a bedroom until the split. I have my son more than my daughter.

why would their be a problem
they are brother and sisters
why can they share, I don't think anyone can give you a problem for that even if you were the residential parent
not everyone in life can rent a 3 bedrooms just in case the children stay over night
just make sure that the are confortable and happy when they visit
Good Luck

I think there will no problem if they are in the ages of 1-9... I have a girl of 5 and a boy of 2 and they sleep in the same room in their own beds but he has his own room & they are charing my daugthers room maybe for the next year or two depands on how they do.. But if they are over i guess 10 years they will want their OWN space unless there are 2 boys or 2 girls charing the same room... But like I said if they are younger than 10 it is okay to share rooms or it is up tp you and your situation at this monent.....

WOW! Your really asking this question! Your putting your comfort before your children's. There is a reason you are NOT the residential parent. You have just told your kids that they are second in your life, thanks for the job security. Why not wait the 4-5 months until there is room?

It depends on the age of the children and the local law. Here, if one or both is over 15 years old they have to SLEEP in different rooms, though one could sleep on the couch, it does not have to technically be a separate bedroom.

Have the boy sleep on the couch and the girl in the bedroom. It's only for a short time, let the children deal with it.

For a short period of time, 4-5 months, I think it will be ok. Your daughter is getting to the age where she needs some privacy, but I am sure she can survive a short period. I would sit down with both of them, and make some ground rules, also explain the importance of respect and privacy.

It may be rough on the 11 year old girl. I think she is probably beginning to need more privacy. The boy probably thinks it is yucky to be in a room with a girl. If you are tied to a lease, well, you are kind of lilmited. Although the boy can probably sleep on a Futon in the living room for a while.

It really depends on the age of the kids. And if they are young then they will enjoy sleeping out in the living room. Buy a small tent and sleeping bag for the each of them.

Personal oppinion... as a mother of 4 kids ... I don't see any reason why they can't share a room... it's just to sleep in... beings the girl is the oldest child... and it's temporary... hope this helps!!!!

You don't seriously need to ask this do you? Of course you need seperate bedrooms for kids of the opposite sex. They will want their privacy...
