A little stress is fine but prolonged stress is very bad and can have be seriously detrimental to your health, leading to illness.

If you find yourself stressed for a prolonged period, then you have to find ways to calm down.

You can use herbal remedies such as bachs and camomile regularly. Try not to use prescription drugs. The odd tranquiliser won't harm anyone, but don't rely on any prescribed drugs as you can become dependent on them.

You should also treat yourself to alternative therapies such as reflexology, reiki and/or massage to get rid of some of the stress.

Exercise is good, especially yoga. Another one I found great for stress was boxercise .. strenuous exercise and punching the hell out of punch bags! :o)

Also make sure you are eating a good healthy diet because sometimes when you're stressed you forget to eat or just can't be bothered. Taking a good multi-vitamin is also a beneficial supplement during times of stress.

Make sure you get some 'me' time. Go for a walk in fresh air, go for a nice scenic drive, watch a good comedy or two, meditate or even just give yourself half an hour in the bath with some soothing music and candles.

Stay cool :o)

There's a certain amount of stress that is not only good but necessary, You could call it the motivational trigger that makes us aware of the obligations and responsibilities that we know we have, and turn them into physical acts; like in a few minutes I have to get off my duff, go into the kitchen and get the ev ening meal on the go before I have people playing a tune on their empty plates with their knives and forks lol. Dangerous stress, of course, is something else. The kind of pressure that we get when we feel ourselves burdoned with more demands and obligations on us than we can handle, The walls seem to be closing in on us and we can't find the door out. That kind of stress can eventually become very serious and translate itself into some nasty physical conditions like high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, even sometimes total emotional breakdown Most people tend to be the creators of their own "bad stress". They lose control with their credit cards, max them out and get into debt, or often get caught up in addictive behaviours that involve more money than they have to spare. Keeping secret something that you did, and should have come clean with your parents, or significant other over. That's a really good example of negative stress. Once you get on a roll you can begin to think of a ton of other ones. Once you have kids, especially t eenagers, you are going to have to expect all kinds of stress, and raising kids is a LOT harder these days than it was at a kinder, gentler time. I gazed into my "crystal ball" and saw THAT one coming years ago but I got lucky and met a man who didn't have any parental ambitions either, so we made a good couple. We still are. But somehow almost all bad stress, when you follow the path of it, goes back to money... either too little of it or enough of it that others are falling over each other to get their hands on it after you have gone through that door where ya can't take it with you. You just have to try and recognise when it is happening to you, and zap the cause of it before it zaps you.

Stress is a killer on the body. Our bodies are not made to endure stress for a long period of time. It ages us and dis eases can manifest in the body from a prolonged duration of stress.

Cancer and heart problems are caused by stress in a majority of situations.

Stress effects everyone. Some people deal better than others with stress so work on coping with it. Avoid what stress you can and deal with the stress you can't avoid.

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

Stress can cause overeating, depression, ulcers and many other problems. A great way to de-stress is vigorous exercise and a healthy diet. If that doesn't work you may need to seek professional help.

Yes stress is bad for you. My mother had sooooo much stress in her life (6 kids, jailed husband, poor, too many bills, etc.) it caused her to have 4 strokes in her lifetime....the first in her late twenties. She is gone now (passed at 58). I have a lot of stress too. And I'm not far behind her. I have ulcers & chest pains on a regular basis. And my left arm goes numb quite a bit lately. Whatever your stressors are....FIX THEM BEFORE THEY FIX YOU!

Yes. It is very bad. I am the king of stress. My stress has caused me high anxiety, anger, high blood pressure, stomach problems, and headaches. I am honestly surprised I am not dead yet.

According to science, a certain amount of stress is good. Frankly, I'd love to live without it.
