break down each individually so the number under the radical for each is the same
root of 75 = (root of 25 *3) 5 root 3
root of 3 = 1 root 3
keep the inside radical the same and add the numbers outside the radical together

so it is 6 root 3

1. make sure that both numbers are having the same # in square root...in this case, that would be square root of 3

75=25*3 => 25=5*5 => 75=5*square root of 3
square root of 3 => 1* square root of 3

2. Addition......you add the numbers in front of square root #s, in this case, that would be square root of 3

5*square root of 3 (+) 1* square root of 3 = 6* square root of 3 => 6 square root of 3.......which is answer (c).

remember, you have to have common units to add or subtract.
the 'common unit' in this case must be sqrt 3, or else they can't be combined.

sqrt 75 = sqrt(25 x3)= sqrt 25 x sqrt 3 = 5 sqrt 3

now you have 5sqrt 3 + 1 sqrt 3 which equals 6 sqrt 3.

You have to think of it this way.
SqRt 25 times SqRt 3 PLUS SqRt 3
5 SqRt 3 PLUS 1SqRt3
6 SqRt3

1. break down 75 into 25 * 3
2. therefore, sqrt(75) = 5 sqrt(3)
3. Since both terms are sqrt (3), you can add them just like any like-terms.

5sqrt(3) + sqrt(3) = 6 sqrt(3)
