what is EP/xx on the bottom of a letter?

Generally this indicates the source and typist so that the reader can see who has been exposed to the information.

If it says EP/xx, EP would be the initials of the source of the content. /xx indicates to me that it was typed by EP as well. If there were other initials like/bw (Betty Williams) would have been the typist.
