i'm new at this, i've been home schooled for the whole of my life and i have now come to high school, (i'm in year 8 by the way) i have had my first term and i want to ask a girl out, how?

Be polite and ask if she would like to see a movie or come to your house for dinner or something just go to the park and talk.

Think about something that might be fun to do, then catch the girl sometime when you'll have a minute or two without interruption.
Tell her something like, "Hey there. I think you're really nice. Would you like to do such-and-such with me some time?"
She might say "No". If so, just say, "Okay. But I still like you." And let it go. Maybe ask someone else.
