You can't use MP3's or aac files for ringtones because if you could then you wouldn't buy them from the wireless provider and the phone routes the call to voicemail after about 30 seconds.

Get OperaMini for the phone (unless you have Verizon) and you can download MP3 samples from the web as ringtones from various places. It's a free web browser for most all cell phones. http://www.opera.com make sure you have unlimited web browsing on your plan or it will cost you most carriers charge around 2-3 cents per KB (not minutes that was in 1996 not 2006).

The voice record button is for voice memos to yourself and for voice dialing. Cingular has a contract set up with iTunes on some of their Motorola phones but there are other phones that come with MP3 players. Sprint (Nextel is dead it's Sprint now) has a streaming music service that is pretty sweet but no it's not MP3. Nokia includes a radio on some of their models. Verizon has a music download service they set up on their own which is not iTunes related but iTunes can play MP3's as well as it's regular AAC files.

When you have the phone open and your looking at the screen. On the right side of the screen on the edge of the phone is the voice record button. This is for setting up voice dialing. Cool feature if you don't want to dial someone's number. I have my closest friends on voice dial. Press the button on the left side of the phone say the person's name and it will dial it for you. As for iTunes this is a feature that is exclusive to 1 cellular network. Either nextel or verizon I think.
