someone once told me to get the led out, so i threw out a bunch of led zeppelin albums.

Old Phys Ed teacher. Means get moving, get the lead out of your pants (like your pants are weighed down so that's why you're not moving fast enough). I think it goes back to when guns fired lead musket balls and you had to carry them in your pockets because the lead was toxic if you carried the lead musket balls around in your mouth. Also a great way to break teeth.

See, back in the 70's and 80's, gasoline came with lead in it. When the evil conservative industries decided that lead was not good for us, they told everyone to "get the lead out."

It means, don't be so stupid!

Although, lead does go good with a nice gin and tonic!

when I did auto body repair we had to clean out the lead in a repair , but when the boss's said get the lead out I think he meant move it move it lol

Of course they have, To me, it means there waiting for you, Your slowing them down, Waiting on you, So they can get going, and do what they have planned, In other words, Hurry up, I haven,t got all day.

It means to get off of your butt and get to work. I guess in the old days, bookeepers would have to "get the lead out " of their pencils, and get to work on more paperwork, thus the term.
