Actually it's carpul tunnel....and I've had it many years in both hands. When it gets bad I use either the hand and wrist splints or just the thin arm band just below my elbow. What I have discovered is the more you overwork your hands the worse it gets. When I'm able to rest my hands for a few weeks it will usually subside. Good Luck!

Immobilizing braces for one option. Also physiotherapy offers several ways to treat and control carpal tunnel syndrome. Manual treatment that includes deep friction massage can help manage the swelling that is a factor in nerve compression. This is combined with manual stretches to the tendons to the fingers and wrist. Another modality of treatment is ultrasonic therapy. Localized steroid injections can be quite effective for temporary relief. Avoiding activities that cause repetitive stress is an option that can help avoid the pain. And then the surgery.

Carpal Tunnel ,surgery or Lazier surgery is the only way to get rid of it. The tendon around the wrist thickens with repetitive use and cuts off the nerves and feelings to your middle 3 fingers and as it progresses can cause permanent damage. You can relieve the pain by wearing a wrist protector. I was diagnosed with it 15 years ago had it in both wrists. Typing on a computer, especially without wrists rest can aggravate it as well as any repetitive motion with the wrists

The symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome may be relieved by wearing splints. You can buy them at any drugstore. If that doesn't help you may need to take NSAIDs (motrin, aleve) or you may need steroidal treatment from the doctor. Either way the goal is to relieve the inflammation that causes pressure on the radial nerve...
Good luck..

It's called carpal tunnel syndrome. You get this during pregnancy, because of water retention and weight gain.... and also because of weight gain when not pregnant.
Try and lose weight. It might go away, if you think you started having it when you gained a lot of weight.
