I'm thinking of offering this as a service to make a little cash here and there as I find it easy to do, mainly with non-ecu TD's. Would this be a good idea?

ivan k - Not a lot can go wrong because of it. Diesel engines are usually down-tuned to allow for MPG and possible emmisions

Not quite sure what you can do to tune TDs, you aint talking gas flowing the head are you, so I guess you are into increased boost, eating into safety margins etc, dodgy, emissions might rise, excess smoke, Actually I think TD tuning is the next big earner in aftermarket parts, but ECUs are the key, change the ECU fuel map, overboost, and then think cams and gas flowing, and lightening flywheels for better pick up and balancing, and sequential boxes, TDs with their narrow power bands are crying out for sequential close ratio boxes, 7 or 8 speed some of them.
needs a Diesel 2 litre Turbo production race formula to kickstart the industry

You would make more if you advertised that diesels can very easily be tuned to save fuel , people buy a diesel because it's cheaper to run than a petrol car so you would be offering to improve on a choice they've already made .

How many people in your neighborhood drive a "turbo diesel"? Not going to make much money with just a handful in the community if any at all!

yeah go for it , youll have them lining up , a little bit of pep back into an old mechanical td , never hurt any one , fitting a isuzu trooper turbo to a vauxhall corsa 1.5td as we speak , bigger diesel pump / injectors , intercooler etc , started off just increasing the normal boost as per your service ( but im now addicted to bigger clouds of soot ! ) just make sure you cant be made liable for any major failures dependent on mileage , age etc

what company makes that engine??? you fool with that engine the way you are describing and you can end up with junk/you really have to know that system/ those engines are totally opposite of gas engines and do not respond well to what you are doing
