A life member is a full, voting member of a society that is exempt from further dues, usually either by paying a single, lifetime assessment or for many years of service, usually 50. An honorary member is someone elected to the society in that capacity. This person also owes no dues, but is not a voting member unless they go through the regular joining process.

A life member is someone who pays dues, votes and required to do all the club duties and honorary member is someone who isn't required to perform club duties but is consider part of the club. Honorary member basically has no voice or choices w/in the club
