Journalism in africa seems to be on the decline, with reporters resorting to tired cliches, how best can this tide be reversed?

Last I heard good journalists in Africa tended to get killed a lot. It's been better lately but I think something like 18 were killed over a two year span recently. You'd probably have to solve that before you start seeing a lot of motivated, hard hitting African journalists. Same problem in Russia. Oh, don't listen to JDJ. There are at least a few educated Americans still around, and from what I can tell Yahoo Answers is an international community.

In South Africa it is because of the influence of tabloid journalism. They now favour big headlines and quick money. In this respect, Africans are no different than other journalists.
