Ok maybe not THAT many but it does have a lot.
But my problem is that when we drive down the road and for some strange reason it happens more when we are doing like 50 mph on the highway than on Main St.
But the problem is that is jerks. That's the only way I know to describe it. Suppose you were going down the road at 25 mph and then suddenly SLAMMED on the brakes. That's how it sort of jerks. And I don't know if it's bad gas, if it's a kinked wire somewhere or ??????? All I know of vehicles is the gas pedal, the steering wheel and the radio.
So when I take it to the mechanic, what do I say? Just that it doens't drive right? It gives sort of a choppy ride too sometimes. (simialar to riding a boat on rough water)
What could be wrong?
Hope it doesn't cost too much.

It sounds like you are loosing fuel pressure somewhere for some reason. Most mechanics will let you take them out on a test drive as part of the diagnostic process. I have been through lots of crummy stuff with my cars and been to a lot of mechanics. Most of the time, it was best that I show them what it was doing instead of describing it. A good start would be to describe it first and then offer to show them.

I hope it's not that bad. Think Positive! It could be something as simple as a bad fuel pump or clogged fuel filter.

Good luck!

without actually riding in it, it will be hard to diagnose. I could be several problems but it depends on the seriousness of the jerk and if it is doing anything else. My first guess would be either the brakes locking up, the engine cutting out. Depending on what is causing the engine to cut out neither problem should be more than $200.

sounds like a fuel issure. check fuel pump/fuel filter/plugs/wires

could be ECU but thats not that common, unless its a mitsubishi
then check the ECU 1st they tend to have problems due to faulty capcitors used in manufacture

i know with our car before we got it fixed, it would veer in one direction if you just let the steering wheel go. turned out that the steering wheel just needed to be aligned...so maybe it's something like your van.
